Located in the breathtaking, vast and ruggedly mountainous landscape of Jasper National Park in the Canadian Rocky Mountains, Marmot Basin is a ski destination that inspires lasting memories. Jasper boasts deep valleys that are home to an incredible diversity of wildlife, waterfalls and lakes frozen in time, carpets of thick, green forests blanketing the earth and the serene beauty of the snowcapped peaks carries on as far as the eye can see.
With 84 marked trails, the terrain is nicely varied; from long, gentle, winding novice runs to steep, high alpine bowls and chutes and glade skiing through verdant pine forests. The ski and snowboard runs are split evenly between easy, intermediate and advanced, making this an ideal destination for the whole family and all abilities.
An uncrowded atmosphere is just one of the many reasons skiers and snowboarders return to Marmot Basin season after season. With no waiting in lift lines, skiers have lots of room to breath and more time on the slopes. The ski area is easy to get around and allows the freedom to explore the mountain and discover, at your own pace, which runs to call your own.

| I have only been sking for 3 years and I have skied Sunshine, Lake louise, Kicking horse and Marmot. Marmot beats them all for terrain variety, shortest wait times for a lift of any, and has the most friendly & helpful of staff. In Marmot, you can still leave your backpack hanging on a peg on the wall. Try that in any of the others.
The best ski hill for families. From beginners to the knarly, Marmot has it for all. I drive 3 hours one way every Sunday to get my fix. Glad to be so close. |

| The snow is great - amazing is more like it. The
people on the mountain and in the town are open,
friendly, and real. That's actually a very good word
not only to describe Marmot Basin but Jasper as
well, REAL. No bull, no hype, just real.
The skiing is like baby Whistler...similar terrain, but
less lift time to get to enjoy it. If you're into it, you
can get a ton of vertical in a single day. There's lots
of easy terrain for the beginner and intermediate
(and those who're into working on their technique)
but if you want to scare yourself, there's plenty of
that too. Chutes, glades, bowls, and lots of fresh,
REAL snow. Plenty of stuff to make your sphincter
contract. So all in all, at Marmot Basin, you can
pretty much pick your poison, and get ready to be
hooked. Ask any local - most came for a holiday
and never left. |
